USA BASKETBALL APPAREL

Inspired by basketball players who wear more tailored and fitted clothes, Nike started thinking that the current uniform could be re-examined. Working with players in the US, China and Germany, Nike designers redesigned the Basketball uniforms. Taking learnings from Nike Swift technology, seams were moved to the back of the jersey and the weight was reduced by 31% by eliminating 25cm of fabric. The jersey is now lighter and more aerodynamic. With a slimmer silhouette, the uniform needed technology to keep players cool. Nike Sphere and Aerographics were the natural choice for moisture management with their combined thermo regulating qualities. Aerographics changes the game by putting mesh directly into the apparel without using any extra materials. The new technique cuts weight while adding comfort and cooling.
